How pricing works
FlowChord is paid by the minute of song from a prepaid balance. What a video costs, the free video, and when you are charged.
Updated October 22, 2026
FlowChord is paid by the minute of song, from a prepaid balance in your account — your wallet. You add funds when you choose, and each video takes what its song costs. Nothing is charged automatically unless you pick a monthly plan, which can cost less if you make a lot of videos.
Options
What a video costs
A video costs your rate per minute of song, in your wallet’s currency: US dollars, or Brazilian reais for accounts in Brazil. The rate is shown wherever you pay — under the Create form, in Add funds and on the Plan page — and, before you sign in, in the pricing section of flowchord.studio, in the currency of the country you are in. It is billed by the second, with a minimum of 60 seconds per video, rounded to the nearest cent.
“Minutes of song” means the length of the recording the chords and lyrics are read from — not the length of your other files, and not the length of the video you export. A song of three and a half minutes costs three and a half minutes; a short clip costs the minimum.
| What you do | What it costs |
|---|---|
| Make a video | The song’s length, at your rate |
| Make more cuts of the same song | Nothing more, up to 6 cuts (see Cuts) |
| Export a cut | Nothing |
| Analyse the same audio again | Nothing |
| Analyse a video again after its audio changed | The first time is free; after that it is charged like a new song |
| An analysis that fails | Given back to your balance automatically |
When you are charged
- Before anything is analysed, the Create form shows what the song costs and your balance — or that it will be your free video. If your balance is short, Add funds appears right there, and the project is created once the money lands.
- The cost is taken when the project is created. For Play Along, it is taken when you finish recording: Nothing is charged until you finish recording.
- If creating the project fails before its files are stored, everything is given back to your balance — the free video too.
- FlowChord measures the audio it analyses. If it is longer than what was charged, the difference is taken from your balance before the analysis; if your balance can’t pay it, nothing is analysed.
Your wallet’s currency
Your wallet has one currency: US dollars, or Brazilian reais when the country you pay from is Brazil. FlowChord reads that country from your connection. You can correct it — with Change in the Add funds dialog, or under Billing in Preferences — until your first top-up or your first paid video. After that, your wallet’s currency is fixed. Amounts are never converted.
The free video
Every account has one free video, once. It is used for a project you create while your balance doesn’t cover the song.
- The AI analyses only the first 30 seconds of the song. The editor and the export cover those same seconds, and the editor marks the project Free · 30 s · SD.
- The export is in SD: 480 × 854 for a vertical cut, 854 × 480 for a horizontal one.
- Reading a chord sheet isn’t available on it.
- Its footage (its video and audio files) is deleted 30 days after you made it, unless you unlock it. FlowChord e-mails you before. Its chords and lyrics are kept.
- Deleting or re-creating the project doesn’t give the free video back.
Unlocking it takes the whole song from your balance, at your rate. The whole song is then analysed again and the project becomes a full video, with the full export; your styling and edits stay. Press Unlock in the editor — if your balance is short, Add funds opens first.
Your balance and your footage
The balance you pay for never expires. The footage of a paid video is archived after 6 months in which you haven’t opened its project: its video and audio files are deleted, its chords, lyrics and settings stay, and uploading the video again restores it. FlowChord e-mails you before. While you subscribe to a monthly plan, your paid videos are never archived for time.
Tips
- Your balance is always in the top bar. Press it to add funds — see Add funds to your wallet.
- While the offer lasts, your first top-up gets an extra 20%, up to a small amount the Add funds dialog shows.
- The Plan page tells you which way of paying costs least for a month like the one you just had. Open it from the account menu with Plan.
- Balance we give you (a gift from FlowChord) is spent before the balance you paid for.
Common problems
- “You need … more” under the Create form. Your balance doesn’t cover the song and your free video was already used. Press Add funds; the project is created once the money lands.
- Chords and lyrics stop early in the song. That project is your free video: only its first 30 seconds are analysed. Unlock it to get the whole song.
- A free video can’t be unlocked any more. Its footage was deleted 30 days after it was made. Its chords and lyrics are still there.
- A video cost more than the length you saw. The audio FlowChord measured was longer than the length read when you created the project; the difference shows as its own line in Balance history.
- An analysis failed. What it cost is already back in your balance, as a line in Balance history.
