What FlowChord does and what you need

FlowChord turns a video of you playing into a video with the chords and lyrics on screen. Here is what it needs and what it costs.

Updated October 22, 2026

FlowChord turns a recording of you playing guitar into a video with the chord diagrams and the lyrics on screen, in time with the music. You upload the video, FlowChord listens to it and finds the chords and the words, and you fix and style the result in an editor in your browser. Then you export it, ready for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or anywhere else. There is nothing to install.

Before you start

You need an account, a recording of yourself playing and a device whose browser can prepare and export video. FlowChord does a lot of the work inside your browser: it makes your files smaller before they are uploaded, and it builds the finished video on your device. That is why the browser matters.

On a computer

Use an up-to-date browser. FlowChord asks the browser itself what it can do, so the surest way to know is the device check below; Supported browsers says more. The full editor, with the timeline and every setting, is made for a computer screen and a mouse or trackpad.

On a phone or tablet

FlowChord also works in a phone’s browser, with an editor designed for touch:

  • On an iPhone or iPad, update to iOS 26 or later and use the browser that came with it.
  • On Android, keep your browser up to date.

If you opened a link inside Instagram, TikTok or another app, open FlowChord in your phone’s own browser instead: an app’s own browser can’t sign you in with Google or save the video to your phone. See FlowChord on your phone.

Check your device

To see what your browser can do, open app.flowchord.studio/device-check on the device you want to use. Under What it allows it says whether it can Prepare a video, Read an iPhone video, Export a video and Save the video. Nothing about you is read. If you write to support about a device problem, press Copy report and paste the report into your message.

Steps

  1. Create a project and give it your video. See Make your first video.
  2. Wait while FlowChord prepares your files and detects the chords and the lyrics.
  3. Play the song in the editor and fix anything that is off: a chord, a fingering, a lyric line.
  4. Choose how the video looks: the chord style, the lyric style, the frame, a title card.
  5. Export the video and post it.

Options

Two kinds of project

When you create a project, FlowChord asks which kind it is.

Kind When to use it
Standard You already have the files: a video of you playing, and if you like extra audio or a chord sheet. See Create a project.
Play along You upload a song and record yourself playing along to it, right in FlowChord. It needs a computer. See Play along to a song.

What is free and what you pay for

You pay by the minute of song, once, when a project is made, at a rate shown in your currency where you pay: the Create form, Add funds, the Plan page, and the pricing section of flowchord.studio. A song shorter than 60 seconds is charged as 60 seconds. The price is for the whole song, however many versions (cuts) you make of it and however often you export it. The money comes from a balance you top up in advance.

Every account has one free video. When your balance doesn’t cover a song, FlowChord can make it your free video: it listens to the first 30 seconds and exports those seconds at a smaller size. You can unlock the whole song later.

If you make videos often, the monthly plan, Creator, includes minutes of song every month and more storage space. See Pricing and Monthly plans.

Tips

  • Record in good light with the guitar and your hands in view, and keep the sound clean: FlowChord hears the chords better when the guitar is clear.
  • You can start on your phone and finish on a computer, or the other way round. Your projects are the same everywhere you sign in.
  • Changes in the editor are saved as you make them. There is no Save button.

Common problems

This phone can't make videos yet. The phone’s browser can’t prepare or export video. On an iPhone, update to iOS 26 or later and open FlowChord in the browser that came with it. On Android, update your browser from the Play Store.

The browser says it can’t export video. Open your project in an up-to-date browser on a computer and export from there.

There is no Google button when you sign in. You are inside another app’s browser. Open the link in your phone’s own browser. See Supported browsers.

Play along can’t be picked. Recording needs a computer, and a browser that can record: keep it up to date.
