Chords or lyrics came out wrong, or the analysis failed
What to fix by hand, why lyrics can be missing or in the wrong language, and what happens when the analysis fails.
Updated October 22, 2026
When you create a project, FlowChord listens to your recording and writes out the chords, when each one is played, and the lyrics that are sung. It gets most songs close, but it hears what is in the recording: a busy mix, a quiet voice or an unusual chord can lead it astray. A few fixes by hand usually finish the job. Rarely, the analysis itself fails; when that happens, you are not charged for it.
Before you start
- Wait until the project has finished processing and the editor opens.
- If the project is a free video, FlowChord only listens to its first 30 seconds. That is expected, not a fault.
Steps
When the analysis fails, the project shows Something went wrong and a message saying what went wrong.
- Open the project from your library.
- Read the message on the card.
- Press Try again.
- If it fails again, wait a few minutes and press Try again once more.
- If it still fails, press Delete and create the project again, or write to us from Support. A failed project deleted before anything of it was analysed gives back what it took.
A chord sheet that could not be read fails in its own row of the Preparing screen, with the ways on beside it: Replace chord sheet, Generate with AI instead (the sheet is removed and FlowChord finds the chords itself, after asking you to confirm) or Delete.
Tips
- Fixing by hand is quick, and every fix is saved as you make it. See Fix a chord, Move a chord to the right moment and Fix the lyrics.
- If you already have the song written out, add your chord sheet with the recording when you create the project. FlowChord keeps your chords and words as written and only listens for when each one comes.
- A clear recording helps most: the guitar and voice in front, little noise, no long silence or talking at the start.
Common problems
A few chords are wrong
Open the chord on the timeline and pick the right one. You can change the name, the fingering, or every time the same chord appears. See Fix a chord.
The chords change a little early or late
Drag the edge between two chords on the timeline; it lands on the song’s beats. See Move a chord to the right moment.
Some lyrics are wrong
Click the line and type the right words. You can split, merge or move lines too. See Fix the lyrics.
The lyrics are in the wrong language, or missing
FlowChord works out the language from the parts of the song that are sung. A song with very little singing, a long hummed or spoken part, or a mix where the voice is hard to hear can come back in the wrong language, or with few or no lines.
- An instrumental has no lyrics: that is expected.
- Type the lines that are missing or wrong yourself; see Fix the lyrics.
- Next time, add your chord sheet when you create the project: the words then come from it, and only the timing comes from the recording.
Chords and lyrics stop after the first seconds
This is a free video: FlowChord listens to its first 30 seconds only, and the editor and the export cover the same stretch. Press Unlock to pay for the whole song; FlowChord then listens to all of it, and your styling and edits stay. See Prices.
The analysis failed
When the service that finds the chords fails, or a job never finishes, what it cost goes back to your balance automatically. You see a refund line in your balance history. Then press Try again. Some messages tell you more:
- “The audio is too short to analyze (minimum 5 seconds)”: the recording is too short to work with. Use a longer one.
- “Chord detection is temporarily unavailable” or “Too many analyses at once, please wait a moment and retry”: the service is busy. Wait a few minutes and try again.
- “We couldn't read the audio from this video”: FlowChord couldn’t read the sound of your file. See A file won’t upload or play.
If only the lyrics fail, the chords you got are kept and nothing is refunded, since the chords arrived.
The analysis stopped responding
If nothing moves for a long while, FlowChord stops waiting and says “The analysis stopped responding, try again”. If this happened while the project was being created, press Try again on its card. If it happened while the whole song was being heard again, the editor stays as it was, with your chords and lyrics untouched, and you can start again from the project menu.
You want the whole song heard again
On a paid project, Analyse again in the project menu listens to the stored recording again. The chords it finds replace the current ones, including those you fixed by hand; in the lyrics, your fixes stay where the lines still match. Your styling stays. It isn’t offered for Play Along projects.
The footage was removed
A free video’s footage is deleted 30 days after it was made, unless you unlock it. A paid video that goes 6 months unopened, while you have no monthly plan, is archived. In both cases the chords and lyrics are kept. An archived project shows Archived: press Upload video and pick the same video to restore it.
